Job summary

Albany Med Health System seeks a CRNA for the Anesthesiology General unit on a day shift. The CRNA delivers safe anesthesia care, performs pre- and postoperative evaluations, and collaborates with anesthesiologists to tailor care to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities include informed consent, airway management, and competency evaluation of anesthesia students. The role requires NYS RN licensure, NBCRNA certification, and current CRNA status.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Administer/manage patients receiving general, regional, or MAC anesthesia under supervision of an anesthesiologist according to privileges.
• Participate in pre- and postoperative evaluation and management of patients.
• Interview patients to obtain informed consent.
• Assist in care and maintenance of supplies and equipment used in administering anesthesia care.
• Respond to emergencies related to airway management and resuscitation.
• Clinical precepting and competency evaluation of nurse anesthesia students in Albany Medical College Center for Nurse Anesthesiology program.
• Assist in maintenance of hospital procedures, policies, safety regulations, and program objectives.
• Other duties as required by the Chief Nurse Anesthetist, Chairman, Dept. of Anesthesiology.
• Provide anesthesia coverage at one or more AMC campus facilities within a single workday, as assigned by the Anesthesia Coordinator.
• Adheres to Albany Medical Center policies and procedures.

The role of the CRNA is to deliver safe care to patients requiring anesthesia and accurately assess and interpret data reflective of the patient's status, providing individualized care. CRNAs must demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and demonstrate the principles of growth and development over the life span.

• RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure NYS Licensure Upon Hire - required
• Currently certified by the NBCRNA Upon Hire - required
• Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
