Job summary

Flexential Corp. in Hillsboro, OR, is seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to maintain and monitor data center systems and ensure 99.999% uptime.

You will collaborate with the DCT, coordinate on-call tasks, and support power and cooling distribution, along with documentation and procedural duties. The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance, safety, and adherence to customer SLAs, with opportunities to lead outages, DR tests, and commissioning activities in a fast-paced, mission-critical

Qualifications

• 2 years of data center experience.
• 4+ years of root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Experience with building automation systems.
• 4+ years of experience in a critical infrastructure environment.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in data centers ( feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS, ATS, PDU, chillers, pumps, AHUs, CRAH).
• Applicable military experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24x7 facility on-call support.
• Monitor and maintain mission-critical equipment to sustain 99.999% uptime.
• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical specs.
• Drive operational excellence and change management.
• Assist in disaster recovery drills and commissioning.
• Maintain AHJ requirements and change windows.
• Support power provisioning for customer orders.
• Prepare and review MOPs and SOPs.
• Perform facility rounds and respond to alerts.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities for this position include utilizing advanced skills to perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment for all data center(s) assigned and maintaining mission-critical uptime of 99.999% or higher. Other responsibilities include vendor management, scheduling and documentation control. Must build and maintain a strong working relationship with the Data Center Technician (DCT) and provide hands‑on training as required.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions

• 24x7 facility on-call responsibility.
• Monitor and maintain the operations, maintenance, and repair of all mission‑critical equipment and systems supporting 24x7 data center operations to achieve 99.999% uptime and 100% compliance with all customer SLAs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, project plans, and other technical documents.
• Drive change toward operational excellence goals.
• Identify constraints and propose solutions.
• Assist in disaster recovery "dry run" exercises.
• Assist in commissioning efforts.
• Maintain AHJ requirements.
• Maintain and implement change windows per company policies.
• Assist in the provisioning of power for customer orders and other electrical modifications as assigned while maintaining a safe work environment.
• Assist with off‑hours and weekend maintenance activities when required.
• Assist with reports on customer utilization, including space and power.
• Read and prepare Method of Procedures (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all maintenance and operational aspects of the data center.
• Perform assigned facility rounds to ensure proper equipment operation, aesthetics, and cleanliness.
• Monitor and respond to facility equipment alerts.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of data center experience.
• 4+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving.
• Experience working with building automation systems.
• 4+ years of experience within a critical infrastructure environment.
• Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations, including:
  • Feeders
  • Transformers
  • Generators
  • Switchgear
  • UPS systems
  • ATS units
  • PDU units
  • Chillers
  • Pumps
  • Air handling units
  • CRAH units
• Applicable military experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical or mechanical certifications.
• Associate’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
• Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed functional and technical depth and complexity requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• Walk or stand for 50% of the time.
• Moderate to advanced keyboard usage.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour

The actual pay offered will depend on the candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications.
