Job summary

Flexential is seeking a 24x7 data center facilities technician to support the operation, maintenance and repair of mission-critical equipment in a Portland-area facility. You will read blueprints and project plans, drive operational improvements, and ensure uptime and SLA compliance.

The role requires experience in building automation and critical infrastructure, with a focus on safety, change control, and disaster recovery exercises. On-site work with occasional off-hours support is expected.

Qualifications

• 1 year of data center experience.
• 1+ years of root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Experience with building automation.
• 1+ years in a critical infrastructure environment.
• Basic understanding of electrical/mechanical systems in data centers ( feeders, transformers, generators, UPS, etc.).
• Applicable military experience.
• Applicable trade experience.
• Electrical or mechanical certifications (Assoc degree or higher).

Responsibilities

• 24x7 facility on-call responsibility.
• Monitor and maintain operations, maintenance and repair of mission-critical equipment and systems.
• Ensure 99.999% uptime and 100% SLA compliance.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specs, and project plans.
• Drive change toward operational excellence.
• Identify constraints and propose solutions.
• Assist in disaster recovery exercises.
• Assist in commissioning efforts.
• Maintain AHJ requirements.
• Maintain change windows per company policies.
• Assist with power provisioning for customer orders and electrical modifications.
• Assist with off-hours and weekend maintenance.
• Assist with customer utilization reports (space and power).
• Read MOP and SOP for maintenance and operations.
• Perform facility rounds and monitor equipment.

Key Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions

• 24x7 facility on-call responsibility
• Monitor and maintain the operations, maintenance and repair of all mission-critical equipment and systems supporting
• 24x7 data center operators to achieve 99.999% uptime and 100% compliance with all customer SLAs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, project plans and other technical documents.
• Drive change toward operational excellence goals.
• Identify constraints and propose solutions
• Assist in disaster recovery "dry run" exercises
• Assist in commissioning efforts
• Maintain AHJ requirements
• Maintain and implement change windows per company policies.
• Assist in the provisioning of power for customer orders and other electrical modifications as assigned while maintaining a safe work environment
• Assist with off-hours and weekend maintenance activities when required.
• Assist with reports on customer utilization, including space and power.
• Be able to read Method of Procedures (MOP) & Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all maintenance and operational aspects of the data center.
• Perform the assigned facility(s) rounds to ensure proper equipment operation, aesthetics, and cleanliness.
• Monitoring/alerting of facility equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

• 1 Year of data center experience
• 1+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving
• Experience working with building automation
• 1+ years of experience within a critical infrastructure environment.
• A basic understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations, including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAH units
• Applicable military experience
• Applicable trade experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical or mechanical certifications (Associates degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline)
• 2+ years of experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation
• Engages in management, soft skill, and emotional intelligence training
• Meets/exceeds functional/technical depth and complexity

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Walk or Stand for 50% of the time
• Moderate or advanced keyboard usage Lift 50 lbs.
• Travel 5% of the time

Base Pay Range

Hourly salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $31.00- $33.00. However, the actual pay range depends on each candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications.
