Job summary

ESFM is seeking a Critical Facilities Engineer to support a Class-A office tower for a financial services firm in Boston. The role keeps essential systems running, with hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-call responses to keep critical operations online.

You will monitor UPS, switchgear, generators, ATS, and HVAC, perform preventive maintenance, document work, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams across Boston and US satellite offices.

Qualifications

• Technical expertise in UPS, switch gear, generators, ATS, and HVAC equipment.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with quick decision-making under pressure.
• Knowledge of GMP/ISO quality systems and compliance requirements for critical equipment.
• Collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with preventive maintenance planning and vendor coordination.
• Certifications relevant to the equipment type (e.g., Electrical, instrumentation, or industrial safety) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain critical assets such as UPS, switchgear, ATS, and generators ensuring performance and safety.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines and company quality systems, inspections, and scheduled servicing.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions, documenting all work performed.
• Conduct asset criticality assessments to identify high-risk equipment and prioritize maintenance and downtime mitigation.
• Manage work priorities for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams for Boston and US Satellite offices.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations, and maintain accurate records, logs, and reports.
• Respond to emergencies to restore critical operations quickly, including power outages, cooling failures, or system downtime.
• Provide technical guidance on equipment operations with staff.
• Support staff and team operations by providing guidance, resources, and hands-on assistance when needed, including internal projects, special initiatives, and ad hoc assignments.
• Participate with staff in the monthly after-hours on-call rotation to ensure continuity of operations, respond to critical equipment alarms, and coordinate timely resolution of facility-related issues for Boston headquarters and U.S. Satellite offices.
