Qualifications

Who We Need
We are seeking an experienced Critical Facilities Engineer to join our engineering team within a data center/colocation space and commercial office building. The successful candidate will operate and maintain HVAC and related equipment, providing environmental control to the property.

Responsibilities

  1. Respond promptly and courteously to customer inquiries within company guidelines.
  2. Maintain professional relations with contractors and tenants.
  3. Collaborate with the data center team and stay updated on building systems technology and emergency procedures.
  4. Record data on equipment in compliance with regulations.
  5. Conduct tests on fire pumps, generators, and switchgear.
  6. Troubleshoot and repair equipment to ensure continuous operation.
  7. Address tenant maintenance issues effectively.
  8. Develop knowledge of HVAC and related equipment.
  9. Support tenant relationships and collaborate with property management.
  10. Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and HVAC equipment, including pumps, chillers, boilers, and air handling units.
  11. Adjust HVAC systems to maintain comfort within guidelines.
  12. Operate HVAC machinery under supervision.
  13. Perform repairs on building components, plumbing, electrical systems, and controls.
  14. Participate in chemical management and maintain logs.
  15. Manage parts inventory as directed.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Skills

  1. High School Diploma required; industry certifications preferred.
  2. Experience in critical facility engineering preferred, with at least 5 years in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work.
  3. Ability to lift 50 lbs., read blueprints, and work with building automation systems, especially Tridium Niagara.
  4. Licenses such as Stationary Engineer or refrigerant certification are a plus.
  5. Proficiency in energy conservation and departmental procedures.
  6. Flexible with shifts, including nights and on-call emergencies.
  7. Strong judgment, communication, teamwork, and independent working skills.
  8. Proficient in computer use, email, and Microsoft Office.
  9. Self-motivated with a drive to learn and uphold high ethical standards.
