Job summary

MedVet is seeking a dedicated Critical Care Veterinary Assistant to join our clinical team in Worthington, OH. The role involves supervising patients, assisting with procedures, and coordinating with care staff to implement treatment plans.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; Critical Care, Nursing or Emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, IV, conversions etc.).
• Ability to work flexible hours and extra hours when necessary.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
