Job summary

Mercy seeks a patient care associate to assist with individualized patient care under the direction of licensed nurses. You’ll work as part of a collaborative team to support clinicians and ensure compassionate, safe care for patients and families.

This role requires completing a 175-hour training program (within 90 days for PCA) and achieving BLS certification within one month of hire, with Mercy co-workers sometimes eligible for internal pathways.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT/CPTC).
• Currently enrolled in a healthcare career program through a high school curriculum.
• At least 18 years of age and eligible to participate in Mercy's UAP Training Program.
• Current Mercy co-worker.
• No previous experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily care activities.
• Support nurses and other healthcare professionals in delivering exceptional patient care.
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition.
• Assist with mobility, positioning, hygiene, and comfort measures.
• Maintain a safe and healing environment for patients and families.
• Perform delegated patient care tasks in accordance with Mercy policies and state regulations.
