Job summary

MedStar Health’s Transfer Center seeks a dedicated Transfer Coordinator to manage emergency and non-emergency patient transfers across MedStar hospitals. You will coordinate with physicians, bed management, and transport teams, ensuring timely, clinically appropriate transfers including helicopter and ground critical care transports.

Your role involves gathering patient data, updating multiple systems, and communicating with referring hospitals while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of an EMT or Paramedic training preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as primary contact for referrals and initiates patient transfers.
• Receives transfer requests with demographic, insurance, and clinical data.
• Data entry across Cerner Transfer Center, FlightVector, Traumasoft, and naviHealth.
• Coordinates with accepting physicians to determine clinical appropriateness for transfer.
• Arranges appropriate ambulance or helicopter dispatch based on patient acuity.
• Communicates status and timelines with referring and accepting hospitals.
