Job summary

The MedStar Transfer Coordinator works in the MedSTAR Transfer Center and coordinates transfers for time-sensitive emergencies and non-emergency requests among MedStar Hospitals. The role dispatches helicopters and ambulances, coordinates bed availability, and collaborates with physicians and staff to expedite approvals.

This full-time position requires 12-hour shifts, day/evening/overnight rotation, and every-other-weekend duty, represented by SEIU Local 722.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• EMT training or Paramedic preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the point of contact for referrals and initiates transfers.
• Receives transfer requests with demographics, insurance, and clinical data.
• Performs extensive data entry in Cerner Transfer Center, FlightVector, Traumasoft, NaviHealth; manages radiology tickets.
