Job summary

Froedtert Health in Milwaukee, WI seeks a Critical Care Technician for its on-site Critical Care Units. The role supports RN staff, providing delegated, age-appropriate care and assisting patients with trained tasks during 12-hour night shifts.

On-site, part-time (0.3 FTE) with rotating holidays and weekends as described. Preferred candidates hold a High School diploma and complete a CC Tech course within 6 months of hire; Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification or active nursing program

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of Critical Care Tech course or equivalent within 6 months of hire.
• State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification required or enrollment in nursing program with proof of completion of basic nursing course.

Responsibilities

• Provide delegated, age-appropriate care in Critical Care Units under RN supervision.
• Assist patients with tasks defined in CNA competency assessment.
• Maintain safety and basic nursing skills as taught during training.
• Follow unit policies and collaborate with nursing staff on duty.

Job Summary

The Critical Care Technician (CCT), under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides delegated age appropriate care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner in the Critical Care Units. The CCT assists patients with the tasks outlined in their clinical competency assessment related to basic nursing skills, personal care skills, basic restorative services, and necessary critical care skills.. The CCT practices and performs what was taught during their CNA training and certification or learned during basic nursing courses at an accredited school for professional nurses. The CCT may be asked to provide continuous safety observation. This job reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager of the assigned Critical Care Unit and the RNs on duty on each assigned shift. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION PREFERRED

High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.

TRAINING REQUIRED

Completion of the Critical Care Tech course or equivalent within 6 months of date of hire is required.

LICENSURE REQUIRED

State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required, otherwise must be currently enrolled in a nursing program and able to provide documentation from an accredited school for professional nurses indicating successful completion of the basic nursing course which encompass all of the criteria noted by the State of Wisconsin administrative code and a minimum experience of one acute care medical/surgical clinical rotation. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
