Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy required; other experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in oxygen delivery modes and equipment to achieve adequate oxygenation.
• Administers and explains therapeutic procedures, performing diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
• Initiates, monitors and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators; understands critical care duties.
• Evaluates current therapies with clinical judgment and makes care plan recommendations.
• Documents therapy outcomes and communicates with the healthcare team.
• Initiates and modifies respiratory care techniques in emergencies; performs blood gas analyses.
• Works independently across patient care areas and ensures EMR proficiency and PHI protection.
• Follows safety guidelines and completes regulatory requirements; participates in proficiency evaluations.
