Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program.
• No minimum experience required.
• Experience in acute or critical care preferred.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• PALS/NRP as required by assigned clinical area within defined timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Assess the respiratory care needs of patients.
• Administer, monitor, and wean mechanical ventilation; manage airways.
• Transport patients within UTMB.
• Develop and review respiratory care plans with a multidisciplinary team.
• Set up and maintain respiratory equipment and supplies.
• Document in patient records and department logs.
• Provide patient/family respiratory care instruction.
• Participate in Rapid Response/Code teams and assume leadership when needed.
• Attend neonatal deliveries and participate in relevant clinical activities.
