Requirements include an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science, active BLS, and State Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials. Florida-based licensure is required with NBRC preferred.

Qualifications

• NBRC credential must be maintained as a condition of continued role eligibility.
• BLS certification is required.
• RRT licensure is required in Florida.

Responsibilities

• Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.
• Collaborates with team to assist with patient flow.
• Follows safety regulations and standard precautions.
• Interprets evaluations and test results to plan therapy with the healthcare team.
• Responds to Code Blue emergencies with CPR per AHA guidelines.
• Performs respiratory therapies and manages ventilators per protocol.
• Obtains and reports arterial blood gases and co-oximetry data.
• Manages airway techniques and basic resuscitation equipment.
• Initiates and monitors mechanical ventilation and adjusts therapy.
• Assesses patient response and adjusts treatment accordingly.
