Qualifications

• AS degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by California.
• RAT or Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire with commitment to RAT within 6 months.
• PALS/NRP obtained within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Administers general respiratory therapy procedures including humidity and aerosol therapy, lung inflation maneuvers, and pulmonary secretion clearance.
• Initiates, monitors, troubleshoot and maintains patients on continuous ventilatory support; administers pharmacological agents; performs CPR.
• Performs invasive and noninvasive monitoring and diagnostic techniques in ICU, ER, and floor care areas.
• Works independently within departments; supports education activities and adheres to UCSD policies and Core Values.
