Job summary

Atlantic Health in New Jersey seeks an experienced Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care and life support under physician supervision. Responsibilities include ABG analysis, aerosol therapies, ventilator setup, and PFTs, with patient education and charting.

The role requires an AS degree in respiratory therapy, NJ license, and BLS; 1+ year relevant experience is preferred, with critical care and EPIC experience highly valued.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree in respiratory therapy required.
• Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
• 1+ year respiratory care experience preferred.
• Critical care experience highly preferred.
• Experience with PFT studies and cardiopulmonary testing highly preferred.
• Experience with EPIC charting highly preferred.
• Active NJ Respiratory Therapy license required; NBRC-RRT credential required within 1 year of employment.
• BLS certification required; ALS expected to obtain within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate prescriptions, measure ABG, and assess patient condition to determine treatment requirements.
• Renders aerosol medications and treatments; position patients to aid breathing.
• Set up and operate ventilators and gas administration equipment.
• Monitor patient responses and vital signs during therapy.
• Perform pulmonary function tests to aid diagnosis and care planning.
• Maintain patient charts; ensure equipment safety and request repairs as needed.
• Provide patient education and support for chronic lung disease.
• Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and other staff.
