Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
• Graduate of JRCRTE approved respiratory care program with 3–6 months clinical rotations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, independent and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication with physicians and patients.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, basic math, and computer proficiency.
• Ability to multi-task and work in various care settings.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly technical respiratory care procedures following unit orientation.
• Manage ventilator settings and wean patients as directed.
• Perform arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
• Provide CPR for all age groups and operate respiratory equipment.
• Educate patients and families on therapy and devices.
• Document in EMR and communicate with care team.
• Assist with discharge planning and interdisciplinary care planning.
