Job summary

Baptist Health Floyd's Critical Care Unit Rapid Response is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to cover night shifts (7pm–7am) for 24 hours weekly. The role focuses on rapid response, stroke, sepsis, and cardiopulmonary emergencies, coordinating care with ICU staff and other disciplines.

Eligible external candidates may receive a sign-on bonus. The ICU is a 16-bed unit offering specialized care and a pathway to excellence, with competitive salaries and strong benefits. EOE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
• Current Indiana or compact state RN license required.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
• ACLS Certification required (within 12 months of hire).
• NIHSS Stroke Certification required (within 10 weeks of hire).
• CCRN certification required.
• Minimum of one year of critical care nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide immediate clinical response, assessment, stabilization, and care coordination for inpatients with acute deterioration, rapid response, stroke or sepsis events, and cardiopulmonary emergencies.
• Support bedside staff, providers, respiratory therapy, house managers, and other interdisciplinary partners to promote early recognition of decline, timely intervention, and safe escalation to higher care when indicated.

Job Duties:

The Critical Care Rapid Response and Code Nurse is a highly skilled registered nurse responsible for providing immediate clinical response, assessment, stabilization, and care coordination for inpatients experiencing acute deterioration, rapid response, stroke or sepsis events, and cardiopulmonary emergencies. This nurse supports bedside staff, providers, respiratory therapy, house managers, and other interdisciplinary partners to promote early recognition of decline, timely intervention, and safe escalation to a higher level of care when indicated.

About the Unit:

The Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed adult medical ICU providing specialized care for a variety of critically ill patients, including those with: stroke; sepsis; shock states with or without multi-organ failure; and respiratory failure.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
• Current Indiana or compact state RN license required.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
• ACLS Certification required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
• NIHSS Stroke Certification required (Obtained within 10 weeks of hire).
• CCRN American Association of Critical Care Nurses Certification required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of previous critical care nursing experience required.
