Job summary

Bayview Physicians Group in coastal Virginia invites an experienced Critical Care/Intensivist physician to join our ICU team. You will provide comprehensive, longitudinal patient-centered care in an inpatient setting while collaborating with a multidisciplinary group of specialists.

This role requires Board Certified or Board Eligible status in Critical Care, with opportunities across Southeast Virginia including Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Qualifications

• Board certification in Critical Care or board-eligible status
• Experience in ICU management and critical care procedures
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care management for ICU patients, including assessment and treatment
• Take detailed histories and exams to develop individualized care plans
• Manage patients with life-threatening conditions (respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, multi-organ dysfunction)
• Perform and oversee ICU procedures (central/arterial lines, intubation, bronchoscopy)
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, pharmacists to deliver high-quality care
• Use advanced diagnostic tools and evidence-based treatments to optimize outcomes
• Provide consultation to hospital teams on complex medical conditions

In This Role

As a Critical Care/Intensivist Physician, you will provide comprehensive, longitudinal patient-centered care in an inpatient setting while collaborating with an experienced multidisciplinary team.

• Provide comprehensive critical care management for critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management.


• Perform detailed patient histories, physical examinations, and clinical evaluations to develop and implement individualized care plans.


• Manage patients with complex, life-threatening conditions including respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, multi-organ dysfunction, and other critical illnesses.


• Perform and oversee ICU procedures, including central line placement, arterial line placement, intubation, bronchoscopy, and other critical care interventions as appropriate.


• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated, high-quality patient care.


• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, monitoring technologies, and evidence-based treatment strategies to optimize patient outcomes.


• Provide consultation and support to hospital teams regarding critically ill patients and complex medical conditions.
