UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill seeks a Clinical Pharmacist to support adult medicine, surgery, and critical care patients. The role provides pharmacotherapy services, medication reviews, and patient counseling in a multidisciplinary setting.

The pharmacist may precept students and contribute to transition of care initiatives. Hours rotate between 7:00 am–3:30 pm and 1:30 pm–10:00 pm, with weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree is required.
• Active pharmacist licensure with NC Board of Pharmacy or able to obtain licensure before starting employment.
• BCPS or BCCCP certification is preferred; PGY1/PGY2 residency or equivalent experience is preferred.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Receives and interprets prescriptions and reviews patient medication history with appropriate interventions.
• Provides pharmacotherapy recommendations and clinical interventions to optimize therapy.
• Oversees preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile products, per standards.
• Maintains documentation in medical records and patient care documentation.
• Counsels patients and families on pharmaceutical care issues as needed.
• Directs shift workflow and supervision of pharmacy staff on duty.
• Adheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Identifies process improvement opportunities and participates in training.
