Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers seeks an anesthesiology physician to join the Department of Anesthesiology at VCU Health in Richmond. The role includes preanesthetic evaluation, intraoperative care, postoperative rounds, nerve blocks, and critical care as needed by the Chair.

You will directly supervise CRNAs and contribute to patient care across the OR and critical care areas. Teaching residents and medical students is a core component, with opportunities for clinical and translational research.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• ABA Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology and/or certified/eligible for Critical Care Certification.
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
• Eligible for employment in the United States.
• Good communication, clinical and teaching skills.
• Commitment to respect, professionalism and civility with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Teaching: bedside clinical teaching of residents, medical students and other learners; participate in didactic teaching programs and attend conferences.
• Research: may pursue clinical or laboratory research and participate in clinical trials as appropriate.
• Service: may serve on department, School of Medicine or University committees; promote civility and community service.
• Clinical: provide anesthesiology care in main ORs and ambulatory areas; supervise CRNAs as assigned; provide care in other critical care areas.
