Job summary

Johnston County is seeking a full-time 911 Telecommunicator (Dispatcher) to handle emergency and routine calls, dispatch law enforcement, fire and EMS, and maintain radio communications. Initial applicants will receive a test invitation from TestGenius by email.

The role requires strong multitasking and calm decision-making under pressure, with preferred certifications (DCI/EMD/EPD/EFD) and prior dispatch experience. Starting rate shown, plus experience-based compensation.

Qualifications

• Experience in dispatching emergency services is preferred.
• DCI/EMD/EPD certifications preferred.
• Must possess good computer skills and the ability to multitask under stress.

Responsibilities

• Answer 911 emergency and administrative phone lines and dispatch emergency services by two-way radio.
• Receive routine and emergency calls and provide directions and information.
• Dispatch deputies, fire, and EMS and maintain contact until incident resolution.
• Operate the DCI terminal to query records and transmit messages.
• Maintain in-house logs and generate reports on calls and actions taken.
• Provide information to the public and perform related duties as required.
