Job summary

Advocate Sherman Hospital - Psychiatric: Intake in Illinois is seeking a Part-time PRN/registry Behavioral Health Specialist. The role involves crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, triage, and discharge planning for ED and hospital patients, including telehealth when indicated.

A minimum commitment of 4 shifts per month with 1 weekend is required, plus holiday coverage. Qualifications include a Master's in behavioral health and licensure (LSW/LPC minimum; LCSW/LCPC encouraged).

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in behavioral health sciences or related field with 2+ years of mental health experience.
• LSW or LPC minimum; LCSW/LCPC strongly encouraged and would be considered at Level 2 candidacy.
• Candidates without licensure but preparing for licensure may be eligible, but hiring would be contingent upon receiving minimum licensure within a defined time at hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, triage and resource development for behavioral health patients.
• Assess mental status, psychosocial stressors, functioning, risk, support systems, strengths and needs.
• Provide ongoing rounding and counseling using solution-focused therapy.
• Refer to other services as needed for acute distress, addictions or trauma.
• Develop discharge and safety plans in coordination with patient, family, and health care team.
• Facilitate admission process to inpatient psychiatric unit and ensure pre-certification for level of care.
• Communicate with ED staff and other care teams to coordinate patient information and progress.
• Participate in unit meetings and ongoing training; adhere to patient privacy regulations.
