Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Clinician to provide crisis intervention, triage and brief psychotherapy for ED and Medical Center patients with telehealth options. The role includes risk assessment, discharge planning and collaboration with psychiatry and the care team.

Experience with IL Mental Health Code, DSM-V knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Flexibility to cover evenings and weekends will be needed to address patient volume and coverage

Qualifications

• Master's degree in behavioral health sciences or related field with a minimum of two years’ experience in a mental health or related setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, triage, resource development and disposition recommendations for behavioral health patients of the Emergency Department and Medical Center via in person and via telehealth as indicated by site.
• Provides direct specialized care with patients requiring psychological assessment or interventions beyond general patient care, including assessment of mental status, risk, functioning, and support systems.
• Conducts reassessment and reevaluation under the IL Mental Health Code and counsels patients using solution-focused therapy.
• Uses short-term crisis intervention techniques and coordinates referrals to support services for patients and families.
• Develops discharge and safety plans in consultation with patient, family, physician and health care team; coordinates implementation.
• Responds to codes/crisis situations and provides education and support to the interdisciplinary team.
