The Bowen Center in Pierceton, IN is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for the Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Services Team (CRSS). You will provide empathy-based, non-clinical support to individuals in acute mental health or substance use crises, leveraging lived experience to promote stabilization and recovery.

Competenze

• One (1) year of experience providing peer support services.
• Certified Peer Support Professional Certification (CPSP), CAPRC or CARC or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• CPI certification must be obtained after hire and kept current.
• BLS and First Aid certifications must be obtained after hire and kept current.
• Valid driver’s license and active auto insurance.
• Criminal and driving background checks required.
• Minimum age of 18.

• Welcome and engage individuals in crisis with emotional support.
• Secure and document possessions in locked storage for safekeeping.
• Assemble and distribute basic needs items for wellbeing.
• Conduct room checks for safety and immediate concerns.
• Assist in de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention.
• Provide insights from lived experience to assist the crisis team.
• Assist with initial assessment to identify needs during crises.
• Advocate for patients and support self-directed recovery pathways.
• Collaborate with the crisis team to set short-term stabilization goals.
• Develop and implement crisis management, safety, relapse-prevention and coping plans.
• Educate on overcoming crises and reducing isolation.
• Maintain accurate client progress and peer notes.
• Access community resources to meet diverse crisis needs.
• Communicate with team members and external resources to foster collaboration.
• Attend team meetings and weekly peer supervision for professional development.
• Safely transport individuals when needed.
• Perform billing tasks with accurate documentation and compliance.
• Handle laundry and keep CRSS space clean and organized.
• Be prepared to assist Mobile Crisis Teams as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
