Job summary

City of Commerce City is hiring a Co-Responder Mental Health Clinician to work with the Commerce City Police Department. You will join on-scene behavioral health teams, de-escalate crises, and divert individuals to appropriate care.

The role emphasizes crisis assessment, treatment planning, and referrals to community resources. You will perform case management, follow-ups, and officer training to improve responses to behavioral health needs, while maintaining strong partnerships with community

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in social work, clinical mental health counseling, psychology or closely related field.
  • Colorado license preferred; current license in psychology, LPC, LAC, LMFT, or LCSW is a plus.
  • CPR and First Aid certification within the probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to behavioral health calls with public safety personnel and provide on-scene assessments and crisis interventions.
  • Develop crisis treatment/care plans and make referrals to community resources.
  • Conduct follow-ups, case management, and linkage to services to reduce future police contact.
  • Provide training and education for officers on de‑escalation and mental health intervention.
  • Maintain accurate data collection and documentation in accordance with policies.
