Advocates is a nonprofit, mission-driven organization providing comprehensive services for people facing developmental, mental health, or other life challenges.

The Clinician position co-responds with law enforcement to 911 calls, assisting officers with crisis assessments and delivering rapid access to community services, with a Tuesday–Saturday 2pm–10pm schedule in Marlborough, MA. A Master’s in counseling is required; LICSW or bilingual candidates are prioritized.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in related counseling field.
  • Two years’ crisis intervention experience required.
  • Valid driver's license and accessible insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Accompany first-responding officers to call-out situations, serving as clinical liaison to police personnel.
  • Provide psychiatric and substance abuse evaluation of individuals and families in crisis in police custody, community, clinic, and hospital settings.
  • Provide crisis intervention services including crisis case management and short-term crisis counseling as follow-up from initial evaluation.
  • Maintain linkages with community services by providing documented case consultations and problem resolution, and referring individuals to appropriate services.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of managed care and health insurance systems; provide other clinicians with resources pertinent to the crises being managed.
  • Participate in cross training of police personnel and JDP team members.
