Job summary

DESC’s Crisis Solutions Center seeks a Peer Specialist to support clients experiencing behavioral health crises. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, applying lived experience to build rapport, develop recovery plans, and connect clients to community resources.

Responsibilities include group facilitation, documentation, and safety planning, with duties extending to transportation support and ensuring a therapeutic environment within a unionized setting.

Qualifications

• Current CPSS or CPSS-T credential or ability to gain certification within 60 days of hire.
• Proof of completion of CACPS training prior to hire.
• Lived experience as a consumer of behavioral health services or guardian of a child who has received services.
• Ability to drive and possess WA driver's license and insurable driving record.
• Interest in working with clients in behavioral health and co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

• Assist participants in voicing their interests and goals using Goal Plans, Crisis Plans, WRAP and similar methods.
• Co-facilitate recovery skills and educational group treatment services.
• Advocate for access to community resources and collaborate with providers for continuity of care.
• Utilize lived experience to build rapport and apply trauma-informed approaches.
• Provide transportation for clients when needed and support a safe, therapeutic environment.
