Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a Crisis Operations Analyst to monitor global threats, assess traveler impact, and drive timely crisis responses across our brands. The role requires strong data skills, AI fluency, and experience in 24/7 operations. You will work with SQL, dashboards, and collaborative tools to deliver leadership-ready insights.

The position is based in Seattle, offering ownership of monitoring, response actions, and governance in a dynamic, global travel environment.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in operational meteorology, geopolitical risk analysis, security operations, emergency management, or crisis response.
  • Ability to assess and communicate complex, fast-moving situations clearly and concisely, in writing and verbally, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in or closely with a 24/7 operations environment, with comfort managing competing priorities under time pressure.
  • Strong data skills: comfortable writing and adapting SQL queries, building trackers and dashboards in Excel or Sheets, and translating raw metrics into clear recommendations.
  • Active use of AI tools in a professional setting, including large language models, AI-assisted monitoring or summarization tools, or automated alerting systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel), Confluence, and Jira or equivalent ticketing platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, Geography, Emergency Management, or a closely related field is required.
  • Candidates with 6 or more years of applicable professional experience in crisis operations, emergency management, meteorology, geopolitical risk, or a related discipline will be considered equivalent in place of a formal degree.
  • Preferred Experience with commercial threat intelligence platforms such as Crisis24, NC4, Everbridge, or OSAC, or meteorological data services such as The Weather Company, DTN, or StormGeo.
  • Background in travel, hospitality, aviation, or a platform or marketplace business where the customer population is globally distributed and mobile.
  • Familiarity with airline disruption frameworks including IRROPs, Event Waivers, and ASCs, or hotel flex policy structures.
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow or similar case management platforms.
  • Professional certification in emergency management (CEM, AEM), security (CPP, PSP), or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor global threat intelligence, weather, geopolitical risks to identify crisis events in real time.
  • Assess severity, scope, and traveler impact of events.
  • Apply frameworks to distinguish noise from real situations and determine thresholds.
  • Maintain situational awareness and produce concise internal summaries for leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Execute crisis responses within SLAs, including traveler communications, policy updates, and coordination with partner teams.
  • Coordinate cross-functional war room syncs and drive actions, owners, and timelines.
  • Support proactive traveler messaging and governance for notification thresholds.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to align on response posture.
  • Contribute to crisis metrics narratives and post-event reviews.
  • Maintain crisis logs and knowledge bases to retain institutional knowledge.
  • Translate data into escalation inputs and decision context.
  • Identify patterns to inform threshold definitions and playbook updates.
  • AI in crisis: help draft communications and improve automation.
