Job summary

Harris County Public Health in Houston is seeking a Crisis Intervention Specialist to join the Holistic Assistance Response Team (HART). You will assess individuals in crisis, provide information and linkages to services, and employ de-escalation and trauma-informed care to support safer outcomes.

This field-based, full-time role requires strong communication, collaboration with dispatch, and flexibility across varied shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years of crisis intervention or mental health experience.
• Valid Texas Driver's License required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Respond to non-emergency calls; assess physical, mental, and social needs on-site.
• Provide information and linkages to services to stabilize situations.
• Engage in de-escalation and trauma-informed practices to mitigate risk.
• Coordinate with dispatch and first responders; ensure proper documentation.
• Arrange transportation to services as needed and maintain vehicle readiness.
• Complete all required documentation before end of shift.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols.
