Job summary

UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is hiring a Crisis Clinician I to provide crisis counseling, de-escalation, and assessments for individuals in crisis. You will coordinate services in both community and office settings under supervision, with a focus on safety and continuity of care.

Shifts vary (day, evening, swing) across four 10-hour blocks weekly, at 2560 West 12th Street, Erie, PA. A sign-on bonus up to $5,000 and a comprehensive Total Rewards program accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with one year mental health direct care experience.
• Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with no experience.
• Other fields may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or mental health experience.
• Experience in phone triaging and psychiatric assessments.
• Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in-home therapy preferred.
• Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.
• BACHELORS transcripts must be attached for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis services in community and office settings, including assessments, counseling and crisis planning.
• Manage crisis situations independently using positive approaches and motivational interviewing.
• Complete consumer and family crisis assessments and provide follow-up by phone or mobile visits.
• Support consumers by promoting stability, coordinating referrals, and negotiating services.
• Maintain documentation, complete required paperwork, and navigate insurance processes.
• Assist with coordination of resources and connections to needed services.
