Description

Job Title: Crisis Clinician

Department: Crisis Response Center

Reports to: Crisis Response Center Manager

Job Classification: Exempt, full-time

Shift: Wednesday - Sunday 5pm - 3am

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Crisis Response Center Manager, Crisis Clinicians are part of the clinical team and provide judgment free assessments and interventions to individuals who are experiencing an acute behavioral health crisis via televideo screenings and over the phone crisis support. Crisis Clinicians provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and supportive counseling with the goal of connecting individuals with the necessary resources and to help support the individual in their treatment and recovery.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct crisis assessments which include assessing for risk and safety, interventions, and appropriate referrals.
  • Work in collaboration with the individual served, family members or others they want involved in their treatment and other treatment team members (internal and external) to help support the individual in their treatment and recovery.
  • Provide person-centered services with a rehabilitation and recovery focus designed to promote skills for coping with and managing behavioral health symptoms.
  • Provide education, supportive counseling, problem solving, role modeling, referral, advocacy and other information as needed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate referrals to appropriate services in the community, including but not limited to behavioral health care and substance use services.
  • Remain prepared to quickly respond to calls at all times during scheduled shift, when not providing a televideo service.
  • All services should be delivered in a compassionate and professional manner with a trauma sensitive lens.
  • Collaborate with CMHCs/CCBHCs, hospitals, and/or other providers regarding persons served needs.
  • Complete follow-up calls to provide postvention for persons served following initial service.
  • Conduct State Hospital Assessments and referrals for involuntary hospitalization based on the Kansas Care and Treatment statutes.
  • Attend Care and Treatment hearings for individuals referred for involuntary hospitalization.
  • Complete all documentation from screen accurately and before conclusion of shift. All other documentation should be completed within 24-hours including any occurrence/incident reports as necessary.
  • Complete and remain current in all agency and program trainings.
  • Credentialing requests should be completed within the first 24-hours of shift schedule.
  • Establish appropriate and professional boundaries with persons served and treaters. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team as well as individually.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality per Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Job Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or marriage and family therapy.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.
  • Maintain licensure by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.
  • Two (2) years of experience providing client related services.
  • One (1) year providing crisis intervention services.
  • One (1) year of experience working in CMHCs is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills in working with diverse populations;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Demonstrates superior customer service skills;
  • Prior computer experience and basic computer fluency, as well as the ability to pull, interpret, and data to current practices and future initiatives;
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and use new technologies, including computer programs and phone systems;
  • Maintains effective, cooperative working relationships with people, both internally and externally, as it relates to the operations and business of HealthSource and ComplianceOne;
  • Demonstrates an energetic and positive approach to the rapidly evolving changes and challenges of a complex workplace;
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive and accurate reports to the Department of Child and Families (DCF) in accordance with mandated guidelines and timelines;
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequently required to speak, write, and memorize.
  • Constantly required to talk, read, problem solve, see, hear, and sit.
  • Push, pull, lift, or carry 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to bend, twist, squat, kneel, stand, walk or balance.
