Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking an Assessment & Referral Clinician to coordinate the acute process from inquiry to admission and provide crisis intervention services. The role includes overseeing referrals/admissions, completing different types of admissions, and maintaining confidential records.

The position requires a Master’s degree in a social science field and at least 1 year of experience in mental counseling, with strong knowledge of

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social science (counseling, psychology, or social work) required.
• 1+ years’ experience in mental counseling; crisis intervention preferred; acute psychiatric setting desired.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques, biopsychosocial assessments, MSEs, and clinical interviews.
• Knowledge of local referral sources and funding options.
• Proficient with basic computer tools; Excel/Word; ability to compose clearly in writing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee acute referrals and admissions.
• Completes voluntary, involuntary, direct, and mobile admissions.
• Maintains confidential clinical and financial records for all patients served.
• Acts as the Court Liaison as necessary, coordinating with local CSBs and Norfolk Juvenile Intake for Temporary Detention admissions.
• Ensure Service Excellence delivery.
