Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is seeking an Assessment & Referral Clinician to coordinate the acute process from inquiry to admission and provide crisis intervention.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a social science field and experience in mental health crisis intervention, with responsibilities including managing admissions, maintaining records, and liaising with local agencies to ensure smooth service delivery.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social science, such as counseling, psychology, or social work.
• One or more years’ experience in mental counseling; crisis intervention experience preferred.
• Preferred experience in an acute psychiatric healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques, biopsychosocial assessments, mental status examinations, and clinical interviews.
• Knowledge of referral sources in the area and funding options.
• Knowledge of and ability to use Excel and Word software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee acute referrals and admissions.
• Completes voluntary, involuntary, direct, and mobile admissions.
• Maintains confidential clinical and financial records for all patients served.
• Acts as Court Liaison coordinating with Community Services Boards and Norfolk Juvenile Intake for Temporary Detention admissions.
• Ensure service excellence delivery.
