Job summary

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Family Well-Being & Protection, Child Protective Services Operations Unit, seeks an Abuse Intake Worker to support 24/7 operations. The role will involve intake, interviewing, and rapid risk assessment for protective referrals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years of social work experience or equivalent.
• Master's degree in social work acceptable with related experience.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs intake duties for protective referrals for children and dependent adults.
• Responds to allegations and ensures accurate, complete information for the subjects.
• Uses interviewing techniques to gather necessary information from reporters.
• Determines if immediate protection is needed and routes to the Intake Supervisor.
• Enters information on the appropriate forms and records.
• Identifies abuse categories and documents safety concerns for households.
