Job summary

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Family Well-Being & Protection, seeks an Abuse Intake Worker to join the Centralized Service Intake Unit (CSIU). This 24/7 operation is domiciled at the nearest Iowa DHS Full Time Office with possible work-from-home arrangements and hybrid training.

The role emphasizes frontline intake and safe-guarding vulnerable Iowans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with related social work experience or a Master's in social work.
• Experience in frontline intake and/or social services preferred.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and document information accurately under time pressure.

Responsibilities

• Perform intake duties for protective referrals involving children and vulnerable adults.
• Respond to allegations promptly and document critical information.
• Use hotline techniques to gather information and determine protection needs.
• Enter data into forms and communicate findings to the Intake Supervisor.
• Complete background checks for all household members and subjects.
