Job summary

The Delaware Department of Justice seeks a Legal Assistant (Paralegal) to provide critical support to Deputy Attorneys General in the Criminal Division, Felony Screening Unit in Sussex County.

The role includes interviewing police, gathering evidence, and preparing informations, indictments, subpoenas, and other legal documents. The successful candidate must work independently in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with DAGs in court settings.

Qualifications

• Three years’ DOJ experience or equivalent in a similar role or education pathway.
• Ability to draft legal documents such as informations, indictments, and subpoenas.
• Experience conducting interviews and gathering discovery materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist Deputy Attorneys General in the Criminal Division, Felony Screening Unit.
• Conduct intake interviews with police officers and collect evidence for felony cases.
• Prepare and process legal documents and assist at court events as needed.
• Review reports and case materials to support legal proceedings and compliance.
