A state legal department is seeking a Legal Assistant to support Deputy Attorneys General in the Criminal Division. Qualifications
Three years of employment with the Department of Justice in a similar capacity.
Experience in preparing and maintaining legal documents and case files.
Experience in legal research such as researching statutes and case law.
Experience drafting legal documents.
Experience in interviewing using structured techniques.
Responsibilities
Act as liaison between the superior and various interested parties to gather information.
Maintain case files ensuring they are complete and accurate.
Interview involved parties to gather evidence for case preparation.
Review various reports and summarize pertinent details for Deputy Attorneys.
Prepare legal pleadings such as briefs, motions, and appeals.
Education
Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies from an ABA or Department approved program
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field
Juris Doctorate degree
