Job summary

The Colorado State Public Defender seeks a Paralegal to support trial teams across regional offices. You will learn criminal procedures, manage discovery, organize case files, and assist with motions and briefs under attorney guidance.

Preferred candidates may have bilingual skills (English/Spanish), legal writing experience, and a background in criminal defense or indigent services to aid in client representation.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate from ABA approved program or accredited institution
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in social sciences, humanities or related field
• Two years of experience performing legal support functions

Responsibilities

• Manage and organize discovery; create trial notebooks and digital indices for attorneys.
• Review and summarize discovery materials, transcripts, and witness interviews.
• Draft routine motions, briefs and memoranda under attorney direction; file pleadings.
• Support hearings/trials with witness tracking, exhibit management and AV coordination.
• Maintain case files and ensure timely updates on case status and deadlines.
