Job summary

City of Edinburg is seeking a dedicated Crime Analyst in Edinburg, TX to compile and analyze data supporting crime analysis activities for the Police Department. You will develop KPI tracking systems, assist in maintaining databases, and advise staff on high-crime areas while delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 1 year of crime analysis experience, bilingual English/Spanish, and a pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Educational substitute: additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements
• One (1) year experience in crime analysis and law enforcement work.
• Preferred: Three (3) years' experience in related field.
• Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense.

Responsibilities

• Compile and analyze information in support of crime analysis activities.
• Develop and implement a data system to track KPIs and data/outcome metrics.
• Maintain and administer police tracking, records management and intelligence databases.
• Advise Crisis Response Team members and sworn staff on high crime areas.
• Provide excellent customer service and support to other divisions as needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree in related field
