Job summary

The City of Rialto is seeking a Crime Analyst to perform sub-professional technical and administrative support of data processing, researching, and analyzing crime data for the Rialto Police Department. Responsibilities include reviewing police records, compiling statistics, analyzing patterns, generating reports, and distributing information to staff and outside agencies.

Three years of administrative experience and a high school diploma with related coursework are required; CCIA certification

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in an administrative capacity, preferably in a municipal organization.
• High school diploma or equivalent with related coursework; CCIA certification eligibility is required before probation ends.
• Knowledge of automated law enforcement information systems and data analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze data gathered from police department records.
• Compile statistics for use by department divisions and outside agencies; verify accuracy and distribute.
• Assist in analyzing patterns of criminal activity; retrieve data and generate reports.
• Publish and circulate information concerning known offenders to other departments and agencies.
• Enter and retrieve criminal activity data from computerized law enforcement information systems.
• Prepare statistical reports and weekly bulletins.
