The Pasadena Police Department is seeking an experienced Crime Analyst to provide crime trend analysis, assist detectives as needed, and help manage investigative resources for the City of Pasadena. The current vacancy is in our Criminal Investigations Division, which is responsible for compiling, entering, maintaining, integrating, analyzing and reporting findings on crime trends and patterns and other related statistical data and information.
The ideal candidate will be experienced, detailed oriented and progressive in applying best practices to law enforcement crime analysis. The successful candidate will be analytical, computer/software savvy, a self-starter and utilize independent judgment in establishing work processes to strengthen the nexus between crime analysis and effective, proactive control to suppression.
Our Crime Analysts provide critical analytical support to help identify crime trends, patterns, and emerging public safety issues. The ideal candidate will have experience in crime analysis, statistical research, or criminal justice data analysis, preferably in a law enforcement or public sector environment. This person will possess strong analytical, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills, exercise sound independent judgment, and effectively communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.
Individuals with possession of a Certificate from the International Association of Crime Analysts or a Certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst (CCIA) Certificate issued by a college or university and recognized by the California Department of Justice, and with three years of job-related experience in a law enforcement agency, will be deemed most qualified.

Probationary work test period is one year.
There is currently one vacancy in the Criminal Investigations Division of the Police Department. The resulting eligibility list from this recruitment may be used to fill this vacancy and similar vacancies in the future.
Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance program.
Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation is required including a review of employment history, criminal conviction record, credit history, use of intoxicants and/or other controlled substances.
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
