Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preference in Criminal Justice, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Public Administration, or related fields.
  • Three years or more of experience in data analysis, trend analysis, research methods, statistics, and presenting materials in formal settings.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License; must possess or obtain NCIC/TCIC certification.
  • CJIS requirements may disqualify applicants with certain offenses.
  • Equivalents considered (experience + education).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze crime data, trends, and socio-demographic characteristics to support prevention and policing efforts.
  • Prepare and present weekly, monthly, and yearly crime statistics reports and briefings to command staff.
  • Develop and disseminate crime analysis reports and dashboards for department use and public information.
  • Utilize GIS and databases to map crime activity and identify patterns.
  • Maintain confidential intelligence files and coordinate with other agencies as needed.
  • Train staff on crime analysis tools and methodologies.
