About the Role
As a Crew Supervisor, you'll oversee the daily operations of a Turf Maintenance crew while actively participating in the work. You'll coordinate schedules, monitor performance, maintain safety standards, and help ensure Greensboro's athletic fields remain among the best in the region.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervise and lead a team of approximately 8-10 Turf Maintenance staff.
- Develop daily and weekend work schedules.
- Assign and monitor work activities to ensure priorities are met.
- Mow, line, drag, paint, and otherwise maintain athletic fields.
- Assist with irrigation repairs and maintenance.
- Apply fertilizers and pesticides in accordance with applicable requirements and safety procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance of turf maintenance equipment.
- Operate assigned equipment and vehicles.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations.
- Coach and motivate employees while providing constructive feedback.
- Monitor time and attendance using the Kronos system.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure staff follow established procedures.
- Respond to maintenance needs and solve problems in the field.
- Provide professional and responsive customer service to residents, athletic organizations, and community partners.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- 1-3 years of experience in Athletic Field maintenance with increasing responsibility
- 1 year of supervisory experience
- Class A CDL ("OR" must be obtained within 6 months of hire date)
- NC Pesticide License ("OR" must be obtained within 6 months of hire date)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Turfgrass Management
- 4+ years of experience in athletic field maintenance
- NC Pesticide License
- NC Class A CDL
Work Schedule:
Typically Monday-Friday 6:30 am-3:00 pm with occasional weekends and evenings
