Job summary

The City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is hiring a Crew Member to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks in the Central Business District. Responsibilities include litter and leaf collection, trashcan maintenance, sidewalk washing, landscape upkeep, and related outdoor work.

The role requires standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outside in all weather. Must obtain a CDL Class B Driver’s License and North Carolina Pesticides License within 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and less than 1 year of Commercial Yard Work/Landscaping/Groundskeeping Experience (i.e. small tool operations, pesticide application, etc.)
• OR No High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of Commercial Yard Work/Landscaping/Groundskeeping Experience (i.e. small tool operations, pesticide application, etc.)
• Valid Driver's License

The full salary range is: $41,600-$59,734. The expected hiring range is $41,600-$43,922 depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefits package. Work Schedule:

Tuesday- Saturday; 6:30 am-3:00 pm

Brief Description of Work:

The Crew Member will be responsible for performing cleaning and maintenance duties in the Central Business District. Specific duties include but is not limited to litter collection, leaf collection, trashcan maintenance, sidewalk washing, herbicide spraying, landscape maintenance, snow removal and special events operations.

The successful applicant will be required to use shovels, rakes, brooms, backpack blowers, weed eaters, and other small tools. This individual must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions, maintain a reliable means of contact (i.e. home or cellular telephone) and maintain good attendance.

The physical requirements of the job are standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. This position requires working around traffic and heavy equipment; work will be performed outside in all weather conditions. A CDL Class B Driver’s License and North Carolina Pesticides License is required to be obtained within 6 months of employment in order to remain in the position.
