Job summary

City of Goldsboro seeks a skilled crew leader for its water distribution and sewer collection operations. The role installs, maintains and repairs pipes, meters and valves, and operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators and Jet-Vacs.

You will supervise crew members, train peers, and coordinate with the operations manager. A high school diploma and 10 years of utility construction experience are required, and a North Carolina Class A CDL is expected within one year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ten (10) years of experience in utility maintenance and construction work.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina Class A CDL or ability to acquire within one year.
• Collections System Operator I and/or Distribution System Operator Level C certifications or ability to obtain within two years.
• Supervisor/crew leader experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as crew leader for the distribution or collection crew on a daily basis.
• Oversees work of assigned crew and inputs performance feedback to management.
• Operates heavy equipment (backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, excavators, Jet-Vacs, tractors).
• Trains other employees in equipment operation and safety.
• Maintains safety procedures and monitors jobsite conditions.
• Locates and marks lines; prepares daily logs and reports.
