Job summary

The City of Greensboro’s Water Resources Department seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator (Hydro Operator) to perform preventative and emergency excavation work on the sanitary sewer and water distribution systems. You will operate and maintain hydro excavation equipment and document maintenance activities.

This non-exempt role requires a NC Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement, a High School diploma or GED, and a forklift license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• NC Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement is required.
• Forklift license is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and emergency excavation work on sanitary sewer and water lines.
• Operate and maintain hydro excavation equipment.
• Complete work logs and maintenance records accurately and on time.
• Provide direction to the Hydro Helper assigned to the truck.
• Follow safety procedures for trenching, shoring, traffic control, and work zones.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies.
