Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Production Supervisor in Gretna, LA to lead and develop a manufacturing team focused on quality, safety, and efficiency. You will drive continuous improvement, coach staff, and ensure adherence to procedures while maintaining a respectful work environment.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong problem-solving, and the ability to coordinate resources and training to maximize line performance and product quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of manufacturing/industrial experience required.
• Ability to perform changeovers and preventative maintenance.
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills for mechanical issues.
• Proficient with Excel, Word and data applications.
• Excellent attendance and performance history.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure overall performance including quality, safety, reliability, waste and sanitation to meet business goals.
• Proactively drive continuous improvement and daily problem-solving to boost operational effectiveness.
• Coach, train, and ensure compliance to plant procedures with respect for all employees.
• Ensure activities follow SOPs and propose updates as needed.
• Coordinate and schedule crew vacations and overtime.
• Identify training needs for new and existing employees.
• Ensure products meet quality standards; coordinate with QA floor inspector.
• Resolve minor mechanical/processing issues to keep lines running.
• Perform tasks of other team members as needed.
• Foster teamwork and coach across the crew.
• Hold meetings for production tracking and problem solving.

Job description

• Ensures overall performance of the team to include quality, safety, reliability, waste and sanitation to achieve business goals.
• Pro-actively encourages continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives to increase operational effectiveness and efficiencies.
• Coaches, trains, and ensures compliance to plant established procedures (including work rule, safety and sanitation guidelines) while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people.
• Ensures that all activities follow documented operating procedures and recommends updates to existing procedures as required.
• Coordinates & schedules crew vacation requests & overtime.
• Determines needs and conducts training required for new & existing employees.
• Ensures product meets quality standards, coordinates problem solving directly with QA floor inspector.
• Resolves minor mechanical and processing problems and makes necessary adjustments to keep the line running.
• Performs job tasks of other team members of jobs of equal or lower grades.
• Facilitates teamwork and coaching among team members.
• Holds meetings for production tracking, problem solving and team development.

Requirements

• Excellent attendance required.
• Meets standards in overall performance rating in most recent performance review.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of manufacturing and/or industrial experience required.
• Demonstrated ability to perform changeovers and preventative maintenance on all production equipment required.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical problems and resolve minor mechanical and processing problems required.
• Demonstrated ability to understand financial impact of business decision affecting staffing, product components and inventory required.
• Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, statistical database applications & Lotus Notes required.
• Demonstrated ability to pro-actively encourage continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives required.
• Proven ability to coach, train and influence while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people required.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking skills to determine risk assessment required.
• Ability to work overtime/weekends required.
