Job summary

The State of West Virginia is seeking a Transportation Worker 4 Crew Chief in the Ohio County area. You will lead a crew in Heavy Maintenance and Bridge work, coordinate equipment and materials, and ensure timely project completion. The role requires strong leadership, safety discipline, and the ability to train lower-level mechanics.

A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required within six months, with eligibility for a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship program.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent experience in roadway construction or roadway maintenance.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six months of employment.
• Ability to work irregular hours, shifts, weekends, and more than 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Leads a crew of transportation workers in Heavy Maintenance, Bridge Departments, and Core Drilling Crews.
• Assists in scheduling maintenance and repair projects.
• Coordinates equipment and materials for upcoming jobs.
• Assigns duties and leads crews to complete projects on time.
• Maintains timecards, work repair orders, and related records.
