Job summary

Bank of the Orient in Houston, TX is seeking a Credit Underwriter with at least 2 years of experience in consumer, commercial, construction or SBA lending. The role supports loan officers in processing and reviewing credit applications while evaluating borrower creditworthiness and preparing credit reports.

Responsibilities include obtaining credit reports, preparing summaries, cash flow analyses, and presenting findings to the Chief Credit Officer for approval.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of credit underwriting experience in consumer, commercial, construction or SBA lending.
• Experience in processing and reviewing credit applications and preparing credit reports.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate borrowers' creditworthiness using financial and tax return data.
• Prepare summaries and cash flow analyses and provide opinions on creditworthiness.
• Assist loan officers in processing credit applications and reviewing credit information.
• Obtain credit reports from agencies and other sources.
• Submit loan proposals for Chief Credit Officer review and approval.
• Assist with annual real estate and financial statement reviews.
• Discuss current banking rules, trade finance, loan products and marketing strategy.

We have an opening for a Credit Underwriter in Houston, Texas- ideal candidate will have min. 2 years plus credit underwriting experience in consumer, commercial, construction and/or SBA lending. Position will work with and provide assistance to loan officers in processing and review of credit applications, developing and analyzing credit information, evaluating the creditworthiness of new and existing clients, and preparing credit reports; and prepares accurate summaries, cash flow analyses, presents facts and may offer opinions concerning creditworthiness.

• Analyzes and evaluates creditworthiness of borrowers utilizing Financial and Tax Return Spreads.
• Prepares and summarizes conditions and covenant requirements of borrowers that require bank action.
• Obtains credit reports from agencies, including reporting services, credit bureaus, other financial institutions, and bank files.
• Prepares factual summaries and credit approvals for submission to Chief Credit Officer
• Determines the need for more thorough investigation or additional information contacting appropriate sources for such information.
• Reviews and finalizes the credit approval with the Chief Credit Officer.
• Submits loan proposal to Chief Credit Officer and/or Management Loan Committee for review and approval.
• Assists with the preparation of annual real estate reviews and annual updated financial statements reviews.
• Is familiar with and participates in discussions regarding current banking rules and regulations, trade finance and loan products, and marketing strategy.

Bilingual in Chinese is a Plus
