Job summary

Qualifications

  • A bachelors’ degree in accounting or business-related discipline, or equivalent experience required.
  • A minimum of 2 related years’ work experience desired, preferably in credit and collections.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP S/4HANA experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated, a team player with strong customer service orientation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and communicate at all levels within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Generate accounts receivable aging reports to review with Sales, Customer Relations and other management.
  • Review open customer accounts and prepare client-specific reconciliations and reports to aid collection efforts on past due balances.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies and short payments, and communicate recommended account adjustments when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Sales and Customer Relations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customer contacts to reduce DSO.
  • Make recommendations for collection assistance from external agencies when necessary.
  • Maintain business partner records in SAP, preserving confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Monitor incoming sales orders flagged for decisioning and release orders when cleared.
  • Manage daily customer remittance details and assist cash application.
  • Assist in gathering data for new accounts for Credit Supervisor to vet payment terms and credit limits.
  • Determine appropriate payment terms and credit limit when Credit Supervisor is absent.

Job description

Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. We are currently seeking a Credit Specialist who plays an important role in supporting the financial health of the organization by managing accounts receivable aging, partnering with internal teams, and building positive relationships with customers. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Relations, and external customers to review accounts, resolve payment matters, support timely collections, and help minimize days sales outstanding (DSO). The ideal candidate is a customer-focused, detail-oriented professional who uses sound judgment, strong communication skills, and thoughtful decision-making to help balance customer needs with responsible credit practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Generate accounts receivable aging reports to review with Sales, Customer Relations and other management.
  • Review open customer accounts and prepare client-specific reconciliations and reports to aid with collection efforts on past due balances.

  • Monitor incoming sales orders that have been flagged for decisioning and release orders when cleared.
  • Manage daily customer remittance details and provide to AR for cash application.
  • Assist in gathering data for new accounts so Credit Supervisor can vet and determine appropriate payment terms and credit limit.
  • Determine appropriate payment terms and credit limit when Credit Supervisor is absent and decisions are needed.
